March 2015 Quilt of the Month

Scraplicious Florabund by Susan Arnold

Scraplicious Florabunda is created from very small, angled teal scraps, and bigger, chartreuse scraps.  They were sewn to phone book pages to stabilize them.  Ultimately, a flower emerged.  Then another, and another. Before I knew it, I was creating a beautiful floral composition, with final framing with a dark blue border.  Needing leaves, and wanting the flowers to pop, a small McTavish style quilting was applied around the quilted leaves and flower edges.  The border was finished off with feather sprays and piano keys.
