A River Runs Through It
A River Runs Through It is a hand marbled piece of cotton fabric done with a technique I learned in a class taught by Karen Tunnell at Arrowmont School of Arts and Crafts. It is 14″ x 18″, and machine quilted on a standard home machine (Janome 9000) with rayon machine embroidery thread. It sat for a long time on my stack of marbled fabrics before I heard it telling me how it wanted to be quilted. Marbling is the art of floating thinned acrylic paints on thickened water – it is magic to see how the drops of color float, change shape and can be manipulated, but never mix!
